Matt brings his experience as President and CCO for Arbor Capital to serve as Director of Arbor Digital.
In 2010 Matt became an early adopter of Bitcoin by mining from his home computer. As the Bitcoin peer-to-peer network evolved, he personally began investing in Bitcoin through the Mt. Gox exchange, which at the time was the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange for Bitcoin.
After experiencing their collapse firsthand, Matt diversified in 2016 with Ethereum, the first fully programmable digital asset. In the subsequent years, he studied cryptocurrencies and their relationship with the quickly evolving Defi space. In 2018 he directed his knowledge and experience with managing digital assets to formulate an investment thesis that positioned Arbor Capital Investment Committee, and their clients, to benefit from the transformative nature of blockchain technology.
In 2020 the genesis of Arbor Digital began with the recognition that advisors and their clients were seeking an elegant solution to gain broad exposure to this emerging asset class. Prior to joining Arbor Capital in 2004 Matt served at the Anchorage office of Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. During his four-year tenure he became a licensed investment professional and piloted Schwab’s private client program offering.
Matt was born and raised in Alaska and continues to explore the frontier spirit by traveling the globe with his family. He recently moved to Houston, Texas after spending six years in the UK and regularly travels back to Alaska for work and outdoor leisure. He still calls Alaska home and enjoys volunteering as a coach, referee, and writing about soccer.
